EUROCINEMA welcomes the recognition of independent production at the Oscars

At a time when independence is being questioned from all sides by institutions, Eurocinema welcomes these Oscar nominations, which highlight the value and the necessity of strengthening a network of interdependent companies capable of renewing, in full independence from broadcasters and streamers, a cinematic narrative able to surprise and inspire audiences and societies around the world. If freedom of expression relies on independent journalism, freedom of creation relies on independent production.

The upcoming Oscar celebrate the vitality of independent production.  Ten films, supported by a dense network of independent production companies, have garnered several dozen nominations across the major categories of the competition.

This international recognition confirms the importance of an ecosystem built on cooperation between independent companies and on freedom of creation.
